Located in downtown Tempe, the new venture will be located at 944 S Mill Ave in a former hair salon.

Started by Ivan Jacobo, the chef first opened Anhelo back in 2019 in Heritage Square, and then re-opened post-pandemic in 2021 by the Orpheum Lofts at 114 W Adams St.

Opening at the end of the year, the forthcoming business will serve more casual New American fair, featuring “high-end tapas” for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

For example, according to The Arizona Republic, customers can expect options such as crème brulee French toast, avocado toast with smoked salmon, sandwiches, salads, seafood crudo, steak tartare, whole grilled fish, and a braised wagyu lasagna, as well as a selection of 170 bottles of wine.

According the the Anhelo website, “Anhelo (Ahn-eh-loh) meaning ‘desire’ has great significance to Chef Ivan Jacobo. He believes dinners are not just about consuming food, rather bringing people to one cohesive place. Chef Jacobo desires to provide more than just sustenance at the restaurant. He is cultivating an experience tailor made for the diners. Food is only the vessel, the conduit to bringing people together to create instant nostalgia and fond memories one bite at a time. Formally known for his pop-up dinners under the name of Hidden Kitchen, Chef Ivan Jacobo has grown this concept into a full-fledge brick and mortar restaurant. Join us at the Orpheum Lofts for an intimate meal bound to spark conversation, great enjoyment, and ultimate gratification. Our menu is comprised of locally sourced “When Possible”, seasonal ingredients brought together to create dishes meant to be shared with friends old and new. Our wine and beer list have been handcrafted to complement our: menu, the setting, and your dining experience.” These core values will also be part of the ethos are their second endeavor.

What Now Phoenix reached out to Jacobo for comment, but did not immediately hear back.
