After closing its doors at Higley and Brown last Saturday, June 24, the locally-owned Mexican food staple is poised to make a comeback at E Baseline Rd.
Of the four food and beverage options announced earlier this week for Surprise City Center, Mario Rana’s restaurant is the only one born and bred in the city.
The new concept, slated to open this winter, comes courtesy of local restaurateurs Don Talbot and Clay Moizo, who operate numerous businesses under their Icon Hospitality Group banner.
The company, which currently operates upwards of 15 locations around the San Diego area, will venture out of state with an outpost at Surprise City Center next year.
The new location will take up residence in Surprise City Center, which is expected to begin construction later this year, with phase one wrapping up during the third quarter of 2024.
The restaurant, which currently operates outposts in Illinois and Tennessee, will take up residence in Sonora Village around November or December of this year.
