Previously, What Now Phoenix reported on the company making its Phoenix debut with its 21st location coming to the Village at Prasada in Surprise. While this site is under construction, it appears Blue Sushi Sake Grill is not slowing down. The Phoenix Business Journal reports that the company will open another location in the Novus Place retail development, adjacent to ASU’s Tempe campus, joining several other restaurants, including three Sam Fox concepts, Eureka!, Over Easy, Nautical Bowls, and more.
Blue Sushi Sake Grill is owned and operated by Flagship Restaurant Group and is considered the country’s largest sushi restaurant group, which runs a sustainably sourced seafood program in partnership with the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch. Now that it has started building its first location in Surprise and is expanding into Tempe, the company plans to host a hiring event for the Tempe store on Sept. 23 and is expected to open in late October. It’s unclear when the Surprise location is scheduled to open.
This is just the beginning of Blue Sushi Sake Grill. The company is close to signing a deal for another location in downtown Gilbert, which would open in about two years, according to the Business Journal. While CEO Nick Hogan said he’s not in the process of making deals to lease space in any other Valley locales, he said he could see Blue Sushi performing well in Desert Ridge, Queen Creek, and Goodyear.
“With me being here full-time and then some of our other regional manager starting to be here full-time, Phoenix has become one of our hubs,” Hogan said. “This market is quickly going to become one of our top markets. We plan to be here for a long time doing a lot of different concepts.”
