Ever wanted to ‘flip the bird’ to the establishment and enjoy a good sub at the same time? If any of that was met with obviously, you’ve probably already heard of Cheba Hut, a sub concept started by Scott Jennings in 1998. The chain weds great food and ‘a very specific counter-culture,’ or at least it encourages you to do so.

This is a sub shop wants you to get toasted and enjoy a toasted sandwich while relaxing ‘outside the established’ with their “homegrown food, relaxed environment, and amazing employees; who actually enjoy rollin in our joint.” Clearly the chain loves their puns, which is good enough for me, frankly.

“The menu features over 30 signature sub sandwiches, as well as a variety of Rice Krispy treats, salads and munchies,” says the company’s website.  You can also get your hands on some local craft beers at most locations.

Here’s the tea: according to Jared Cauffield’s The Active Tenant List, Issue 19, Cheba Hut, with 20 locations in 7 states, is “seeking to open Arizona’s 7th location.” The chain is looking for a 2,000 to 3,000 square foot space with high (ha ha) visibility and the possibility for a patio. West Valley in Goodyear, Surprise, Litchfield Park, and Arrowhead appeal to Cheba Hut for the 7th location, as does East Mesa along Baseline or Eastmark and North Phoenix.
