The company, owned and operated by Ian and Stephanie Harwell, has announced on social media that its landlord has decided not to renew its lease, ending in December. Ground Control will have its final day on Friday, December 13th, with live music by the Los Gringos Band, who wanted to play one last show. It’s unclear where the Harwells are looking for the location of Ground Control or when it’s expected to open. However, customers can expect the same welcoming environment when it reopens.

“It is important to note that this was just a business decision made by the landlord who has decided he wants to change industries for the building,” according to the announcement. “The landlord has this right, and we do not condone any negative statements directed at the building owner. It is not all doom and gloom. Ground Control isn’t ending; we plan on making a comeback bigger and better and implore you to follow us on our next adventure. Plans are made and are in motion to make things happen.”

Ground Control is considered one of Litchfield Park’s best Gastropubs, having won Phoenix Magazine’s 2022 & 2023 Best of the Valley Readers’ Choice Best Hot Chicken and Best Breakfast Burrito + voted Best Taproom in 2019, 2020, and 2021. The owners are preparing to embark on a new journey in a different location. Hopefully, Ground Control will reopen sometime next year, featuring the same, if not better, beer bar, coffee bar, wine bar, gelateria, and wood-fired pizzas.

“Until we close our doors – for now – we ask you to please come out and support as much as possible,” the announcement continues. “Moving locations is very expensive, and we would appreciate all the sales we can to make this happen. I promise you this is not goodbye forever. I’ve personally never been more excited about our future. Stephanie and I cannot thank you enough for all the support you have given us as business owners and are extremely proud of everything we have accomplished here.”
