Oregano’s is a veritable institution of Arizona’s – and more specifically, the Valley’s – pizza scene, with more than 20 locations across the state, as well as one in Colorado.

The company’s story is a classic, homespun tale of an Italian immigrant family bringing their unique character and traditions to America, as founder Mark S. Russell writes on the company’s official website:

“My father was born on the north side of Chicago during the Great Depression. My grandmother taught him the secrets of making her pizza, pasta, and many other established family recipes. Dad, on the other hand, liked to experiment (to the horror of his mother), and used fresh vegetables to create unique flavors, long before it was in vogue.”

Today, those experiments have culminated in a beloved menu that features authentic Chicago-style pizza, as well as some truly inspired pasta dishes such as the Hakuna Piccata, Coop de Ville Jumbo Chick Parm, Lady is a Scampi, and Alfredo the Dark. Not to mention an extensive list of wings, sandwiches, salads, and desserts.

Simply put, it’s a reflection of the Gibilini family ethos, “The key to happiness is friends, good food, and music.”

Or, as one fan put it in a comment on Oregano’s Instagram feed, “No other place has that character.”
