Over the years, she has met many independent artists and other vendors at markets through her work with Judy Wear Boutique, a local women’s fashion store owned by her mother-in-law. Seeing many items that she loved but didn’t quite fit in with the Judy Wear brand, Dragoo decided to branch off with her own venture selling all the things that bring her joy and nostalgia.
“I want my customers to celebrate the little things, to seek out the good news, to brighten someone’s day, to send a card to a friend for no reason. I want to inspire my community and for my customers to express themselves. Basically, I want Lunch Money to be not only a clothing and gift shop, but also a hub of optimism. I can promise that you’ll never have a dull moment in my store,” Dragoo tells What Now Phoenix.
Lunch Money will sell all sorts of odds and ends including funky clothes, fun stationery, stickers, home decor, handmade earrings, art prints, tarot cards, wellness workbooks, and more. Dragoo puts concerted effort into sourcing most of her inventory from small, independent artists from around the U.S. “When you shop with me, you’re not only supporting my dreams, but also the dreams of many others,” she writes on the website.
Until Lunch Money is ready to open its doors, final touches are being done on the retail space, including the installation of their sign. Dragoo anticipates setting up her furniture and inventory in the new year. For updates, follow @lunchmoneyaz on Instagram.
