With two blossoming locations in Mesa and Gilbert, Miss Dessert is gearing up to debut a third location in midtown Phoenix. The Hong Kong-style dessert shop is coming to 1335 W. Thomas Road, taking over the former Persian Garden Cafe. Co-owner Harry Yu tells What Now Phoenix that this new location will be open by March at the latest.

It will be the third of what will hopefully be many more in the future. While the first three Miss Dessert shops are corporate owned, the company has recently opened up to franchising and are already seeing interest from prospective franchisees.

From boba tea to Korean corn dogs, Asian-style treats continue to evolve the Valley’s snack and dessert scene. As Miss Dessert seeks to diversify the market, it will be no surprise when these franchise opportunities take Miss Dessert all across Arizona.

Miss Dessert specializes in authentic Hong Kong-style desserts which offer a variety of textures and tastes. Talking to Gilbert Sun News, Yu says that their signature item, Yoji Nectar, “feels like a mango smoothie but it’s made with an authentic Hong Kong-style recipe. On the top, we have sago, which is tiny tapioca, the mango and the pomelo (citrus fruit).”

Drinkable desserts like these can be customized with a scoop of vanilla or green tea ice cream. They also serve more familiar items like milk teas and fruit teas, which they top with real, fresh fruit.

Yu owns Miss Dessert with his father, Zhengquan, who he urged to come to America to help him start his dessert business. As an international student going to college in Texas, Yu noticed the lack of Asian dessert shops in his area.

With the help of his parents and recipes he grew up with in China, Yu was able to bring these unique desserts to the desert. For more information, visit www.missdessertus.com and follow them on Facebook and Instagram for updates.
