The new cocktail bar will move into a vacant space on Van Buren Street and Fourth Avenue, near Gus’s Fried Chicken and State 48 Brewing, according to AZ Central. Quartz is the newest venture from Instrumental Hospitality, which opened Belly and Sin Muerte, and Chuckie Duff, the co-owner of Cobra Arcade Bar, Ziggy’s Pizza, and The Rebel Lounge. Despite having experience with food, ownership does not plan to offer any food at this cocktail bar and is hoping to open in Spring 2023.

When Quartz opens, customers can expect an elevated drink menu from Instrumental Hospitality’s beverage director/ co-owner Paul Waxman and award-winning bartender Max Berlin of Glai Baan, which was nominated for a James Beard award for its outstanding wine and beverage program under his direction. They describe the upcoming menu as an homage to deserts worldwide “from Arizona to Antarctica.” Each cocktail will express unique desert characteristics in flavor and presentation.

“[The team is not ready to] lift the curtain just yet,” Paul Waxman tells AZ Central. “Quartz will be an immersive cocktail experience that will quench the thirst of us desert dwellers, and is something that Max Berlin and I have been working on for a while now.”
