“It’s slow going at the moment,” said owner Julian Wright when he spoke to What Now Phoenix on Thursday. “There’s a lot of delays, partially due to material shortages and partly because of the complexity of the project.”
That complexity includes trying to build a patio off the back alley in a space that can already hold 300 seats.
“We’re excited about Phoenix because we’re in a growing neighborhood and iconic building,” said Wright. “We’re also building a 3,000 square foot second level mezzanine patio with its own bar, which is part of the delay we’re facing.”
The patio will have a park-like atmosphere with grass, trees, garden lights, and views of the city. “It will probably hold 100 people or so, so it would be great for private events.”
As for Mesa, it will be the company’s first Biergarten-forward concept, where the inside of the building is small and the outside will become the biggest patio in downtown Mesa with 6,000 square feet.
Wright said the Phoenix location was looking good to be finished by October, with Mesa looking at a hopeful April 2022 opening.
