Self-described “healthitarians,” the people behind Picazzo’s have been serving up organic, veggie-packed meals to Arizonans for nearly two decades. With restaurants in Sedona, Arrowhead, Paradise Valley, Tempe, and Scottsdale, their new spot in Gilbert will soon join the list of vegetarian and vegan-friendly cuisine in the area.

Picazzo’s Gilbert is set to open soon (they’re hiring now) at 884 E Williams Field Road, Suite 102, though the exact date is still unclear.

As an Italian-American, the words “gluten-free” and “pizza” in the same sentence make my palms sweat, but it’s safe to assume that Gilbert, home to the Agritopia Organic Farm, the largely plant-based Seed Shack and The Uprooted Kitchen, will welcome Picazzo’s health-centric menu with open arms.

Picazzos is no longer serving organic pizza but advertises that it is organic. I have eaten there for years and the staff has told me the pizza was organic. The GM just admitted to me that the cheese is not organic and they charge high prices for this “phony” organic pizza! He said, “Well, we changed the name to Picazzos HEALTHY Italian Pizza Kitchen instead of Picazzos ORGANIC Italian Pizza Kitchen. Please do not give restaurants that lie like this your business.
