Owners and lifelong Paradise Valley residents Geri Hormel and her longtime partner, Hunter Rodgers, purchased the building in 2019. While Hormel operates Almost There Rescue, together they came up with the concept for Pizza to the Rescue, which is operated by Rodgers.

Pizza To The Rescue opened its doors on April 4, 2024, and serves an eclectic offering of Italian-Mediterranean-American-based appetizers, pizzas, pastas, and desserts featuring ingredients from local purveyors and many Italian products. Rodgers began his culinary career many years ago spending summers in the kitchen at Vincent’s on Camelback and takes inspiration from chefs like Francis Mallmann, Victor Arguinzoniz and Anthony Bourdain. The restaurant’s menu was inspired by Rodgers’ passion for cooking at his home for large, impromptu groups of family and friends.

All the ingredients are made from scratch daily. The pizzas are fired in a 10,000-pound handmade Italian pizza oven that was commissioned for the restaurant. Signature cocktails and an extensive Italian wine list are also a big part of the experience.

The restaurant patio features nightly visits from Almost There Rescue puppies that are available for adoption or will be soon. Pizza To The Rescue is open six days a week and is closed on Sundays.
