Pyro, a “Japanese izakaya bistro,” is coming to The Grove at 44th and Camelback. Commercial real estate developers RED Development announced today that the independent restaurant concept from Flagship Restaurant Group has signed on as the first dining establishment at the $400-million mixed-use destination in Phoenix. Representatives for Flagship tell us that Pyro will likely debut between late 2022 and early 2023.
Pyro’s menu will be centered around the concept of an open-flame, used to achieve different layers and textures across every dish. The lunch and dinner selections will feature sustainably-sourced seafood and proteins. A cocktail bar will boast a vast selection of spirits, wines, “innovative cocktails and trendy takes on classics.”
The 4,200 square-foot restaurant will have an outdoor patio with an open hearth. Design will be managed by Flagship co-owner and president Tom Allisma and art director Haylie Rousek, in collaboration with global hospitality design firm AvroKO.
“The Flagship Restaurant Group team and I are very excited to bring Pyro to The Grove,” Flagship CEO and co-founder Nick Hogan said in a press release. “We felt that it was the right time to bring our brand-new concept to this location, as there is much development taking place in-market and residents and travelers in Phoenix are always looking for the right mix of creativity coupled with responsibly-sourced fare.”
Hogan added, “Everything we serve our guests is fully transparent, from the farms the vegetables come from to the areas where each of our fish is sourced. We are looking forward to another new chapter in the city.” Flagship Restaurant Group recently debuted a tri-concept dining and entertainment venue in Roosevelt Row, which includes Ghost Donkey, Palma, and Châm Pang Lanes.
