Roses by the Stairs, a brewery owned by Jordan Ham, is getting ready to open the doors for its first brick and mortar store at 509 W McDowell Road.
“At this point, things are going great,” said Ham when he spoke to What Now Phoenix on Thursday. “It’s been quite a process. I’ve been working on this since last March, so there’s been a lot of paperwork and licensing and permitting, but now we’re finally doing construction.”
Ham, an engineer by trade, always wanted to start his own business and found himself on a journey to do something different with his life during the COVID-19 pandemic. After practicing with home brewing and listening to a podcast about opening a brewery, he decided to go for it.
The brewery is trying its best to use only local ingredients, and will donate 1% of its earnings back to the environment.
“We’re trying to build a community here and be more than just about the beer.”
While Ham is the owner, he hired a brewer from California to focus on West Coast IPAs while other brews like sours and saisons age in the barrels.
More than anything, Ham is just focused on the local community and giving back as best as possible. “When you come here and drink our beer, the money is staying in Arizona.”
As of now, they’re shooting for a mid-November 2021 opening.
