The company’s second Phoenix site and third overall location in Arizona is set to open within the Chandler Fashion Center. It will offer bowling alleys, arcade games, karaoke, billiards, and other entertainment-like activities in an indoor facility complex. In addition to the various activities for both adults and children, Round1 also offers plenty to eat and drink, including burgers, pizza, wings, and Japanese options. The business also offers sides, sweets, and drinks, including beer, cocktails, and wine.
This is a massive achievement for Round1, which started in late 1980 when owner Masahiko Sugino established a company named Sugino Kosan and created a roller skate facility with arcade games. As the store’s popularity increased, the facility expanded to include a bowling alley, which made it even more popular. Ultimately, this location became the first Round One store in 1993. Since then, the company has quickly expanded all across Japan. Round One successfully established its national brand and has 100 stores in Japan as of 2021.
In 2008, Round One Entertainment Japan began looking overseas to the United States for more growth and expansion. Two years later, the company opened its first U.S. location in the Los Angeles suburb of City of Industry, California. The biggest challenge for the company at that time was that “Round One Entertainment” was an unknown entity in the U.S. However, within a few years, Round One quickly opened up its second, third, and fourth locations in California and now has over 50 locations across the U.S. opened or planning to open. Now, the company is working on its third Arizona location. There’s no saying when this site will open, considering the company is waiting for permits before moving forward.
“Round One USA, the U.S. branch of Round One Entertainment, has been continuing to grow rapidly nationwide since 2014,” according to the company’s website. “We position ourselves differently from our competitors by offering a wide variety of activities, including our Kids Play Zone (an indoor playground area for the kids) and Spo-Cha concept. Targeting a wide range of customers from young children to the elderly, Round One continues to grow rapidly in the U.S. market.”
