“I don’t want to jinx it, but our goal is to open by the Super Bowl,” says Simple Machine’s owner and head brewer Marshall Norris. “At least the portion where our taproom is going to be.”

The taproom – which doesn’t have plans to operate a kitchen but will encourage folks to bring their own meals or order in – is set to take over 850 square feet of space, with a “giant patio” off the building’s south side that will eventually be shared with the neighboring German restaurant, Haus Murphy. Likewise, by mid-year Norris hopes to have launched Simple Machine’s adjoining live music venue.

“Simple Machine has always tried to operate and be part of the community,” Norris tells What Now Phoenix. “We do like 14 to 16 charity collaborations a year. We’re really excited to be a part of the revitalization of downtown Glendale – the building itself is really cool, and I appreciate that the people who bought it want to preserve it, make it alive again, and I’m glad that Simple gets to be part of that.”
