Back in 2018, CAVA Group acquired Zoës Kitchen, a Mediterranean restaurant chain with two Phoenix area locations. Now it appears, based on a building permit issued by the City of Phoenix, that Zoës Kitchen on E. Camelback Road in Phoenix will convert to CAVA.

The building permit, issued this month, is for interior alterations to the existing restaurant space. “This scope of work includes minor adjustments to the existing kitchen including some new ceiling, plumbing, and electrical work,” reads the permit. New furniture, millwork & finishes, and new storefront glazing and a door are also listed under “Description/Scope of Work.”

Our E. Camelback Road Zoës is not the first to rebrand as CAVA, but it will be the first CAVA to open in Arizona. CAVA has its roots in Rockville, Maryland, where three friends got to work and opened their first brick-and-mortar. Today, the company operates almost 80 “chef-casual restaurants” and boasts a line of “chef-crafted dips and spreads” sold in Whole Foods and other specialty markets.

CAVA offers a customizable meal that begins with a base and moves through your choice of dips and spreads, protein, and toppings. So whether you’re craving a salad, grain bowl, or pita, CAVA has got you covered.

We’re awaiting word back on what exactly the conversion will look like and when it will be complete. In the meantime, you can learn more about your first CAVA experience by finding the eatery on social media.
