After suffering a devastating kitchen fire, the owners of The Mexicano have announced that it will reopen in the next few months in Phoenix at 4801 E. Cactus Road.
Unfortunately, news broke out at the start of the month that The Mexicano had suffered a kitchen fire, forcing the restaurant to close. Thankfully, no one was injured, and the Phoenix Fire Department was able to put out the fire before it reached other parts of the restaurant. While the company is thankful the disaster was quickly contained, the restaurant will be closed for a few months to repair the damages. When it reopens, the restaurant will offer the same incredible food and service it has since opening in December 2021.
“We will rebuild better than ever,” Owner Joey Maggiore posted on Instagram following the fire. “Everyone was safe, thank God! See you soon [The Mexicano]. Love all who support us! Tequila on me soon. [It’s] tough to watch when your passion and family business has a fire, but we will get it open soon. Thank you [Phoenix Fire Department].”
In the meantime, The Maggiore Group encourages diners to visit its sister restaurant, The Rosticceria, which is only half a mile north of Tatum. While fans of the restaurant are relieved that the Mexicano will reopen in a few months, the company is still working on a new location of The Mexicano in Chandler, on the corner of Chandler Boulevard and Price Road. The new location is expected to open later this year, possibly early next year. The company is also still working on opening The Italiano in Scottsdale, located at 9301 E. Shea Blvd. It’s unclear if the recent fire will affect these upcoming concepts’ opening dates.
