Vero Chicago Pizzeria, a local Chicago-based deep-dish chain with a handful of locations in Phoenix, is getting ready to open another location in Chandler at 2885 W. Ray Road, Suite 6.
The company’s eighth location is set to move into the former home of Fired Pie in front of Whole Foods near Loop 101 and Ray. Director of Operations Alex Mejia tells What Now Phoenix that this new location will be owned and operated by Caleb Williams and Josh Carstens, who also owns the San Tan Valley location. The company hopes to open this new Chandler location in the winter, offering the same delicious Chicago-style deep dish, butter crust, thin crust pizzas, and other options such as pasta, wings, and sandwiches.
Vero Chicago Pizzeria was founded in 1992 when Joe and Tim Scarnato opened their first carry-out and delivery pizzeria in the northern suburbs of Chicago. After opening three more stores over a decade, the brothers opened their first full-service restaurant with Buddyz A Chicago Pizzeria. Then, in 2013, the company expanded to Arizona and opened a handful of Buddyz locations around the Valley, including a final site in San Tan Valley. This is where franchisees Williams and Carstens first joined the company. Eventually, Buddyz rebranded into Vero Chicago Pizza in 2021 and started franchising. Today, the company is considered one of the best pizza spots in the country, ranked 3rd best Chicago Style Pizza place by Yelp.
