The new restaurant is set to move into the former home of Amigos Mercado in the DeLeon Plaza, according to a recent liquor license application approved last week. Owner Bonnie Henderson tells What Now Phoenix that she hopes to open the new restaurant sometime next month but couldn’t provide an exact opening date. Customers can expect sandwiches, fondue, and beer in a full-service restaurant. Henderson says there will be grand opening specials as well as daily specials.

This isn’t the first time Henderson has opened a restaurant. The experienced business owner has opened many locally owned restaurants in Albuquerque, including Vintage 423, Quarters BBQ, Ragin Shrimp, and Elliotts. In Phoenix, she has worked as a bartender at JJ’s Grubb Shack N Liquor and Beast of Bourbon in Mesa and as a food service worker for Old Chicago Restaurants in Gilbert. Now, she’s getting ready to take her experience to Chandler.

This will be an excellent location for the new restaurant, sitting between Oh Baby Smoke Shop and a vacant space that was the former home of The Drowning Taco. Bonnie’s Bread and Butter Co will serve as one of two eateries in the strip mall, having to compete only with Nanas Kitchen. While there are a handful of other restaurants along Arizona Avenue, most are Mexican restaurants. Henderson hopes to provide the area with a new option, becoming one of the few restaurants in the Valley to offer fondue.
