Moreab tells What Now Phoenix that while he’s yet to sign a lease for his first outpost, he’s currently eyeing some of the city’s outer-lying areas such as Chandler, Queen Creek, and Gilbert.
“It’s one of the best ice creams I’ve ever had and I decided I’m so excited to work with them,” Moreab says, adding, “It’s time to have some of the people who live in Arizona try it out, and see one of the top 10 ice creams in the nation.”
In a press release, David Wild, director of franchising for Sloan’s, pointed out that Moreab’s professional background and his thorough assessment of the brand made him a perfect fit to bring Sloan’s to Arizona for the first time.
“We are excited to have Riad join us as a franchise partner. His entrepreneurial and management experience will play a tremendous role in developing his locations and the Sloan’s brand in the Phoenix market,” Wild said in a statement. “Riad did a tremendous job of evaluating the Sloan’s brand prior to moving forward and that demonstrates his attention to detail and commitment to making the right decision for him and his family. We couldn’t be happier to be working together.”
Sloan’s has been around for over two decades, first getting its start in 1999 in West Palm Beach, Florida with owner, chef, and ice cream connoisseur Sloan Kamenstein at the helm. Since then, Sloan’s has gone international and has 11 locations – including this agreement. According to Wild, the ice cream franchise is seeking new commitments this year to bring the brand to at least five new markets throughout the US.
While the availability of flavors varies by store, Sloan’s offers upwards of 55 types of ice cream, ranging from Carrot Cake and Tracy’s Scrumptious Pretzel to Vegan Coconut Chocolate and Coffee and Doughnuts. However, the brand’s true claim to fame is Tracy’s Kitchen Sink, a monstrous sundae featuring 18 scoops of ice cream, all of the deluxe toppings, four cookies, four brownies, whipped cream, and cherries, served in a literal kitchen sink.
Sloan’s is a Florida-based ice cream utopia built to make fantasy a reality for the young and young at heart. From its home base in West Palm Beach, Sloan’s has grown to 11 locations.
