Little Miss BBQ is opening its third location this summer, Phoenix Business Journal reported first. One of the Valley’s most popular barbecue joints, Little Miss BBQ is planning to take over Honey Bear’s BBQ at 2824 N. Central Ave. in midtown Phoenix. Honey Bear’s original location on Van Buren will remain in business.
“I’m a sucker for old buildings,” Holmes told Phoenix Business Journal. “We have our Seventh Street location, and this is a cool, A-frame building. I remember being 19 years old and going to Honey Bear’s, I loved that place when I was younger. They have been an institution in the Valley.”
Now, Holmes will carry on the BBQ torch at this location, specializing in the central Texas-style barbecue that they became known for throughout the Valley. Using a proprietary smoker with a blend of Arizona white oak, pecan, pistachio and mesquite firewood, plus labor intensive techniques, Little Miss BBQ aims to highlight the quality of their meats, which is sourced from a single rancher.
Their top-notch barbecued beef, pork, and turkey is cooked so well that it can stand on its own, though Little Miss BBQ also has a catalog of house made sauces and rubs which are constantly updated in order to keep things fresh. Their deli-style layout allows customers to order as much or as little barbecue as they want, but there are also plates and sandwiches on the menu as well.
Honey Bear’s BBQ will remain in operation at midtown Phoenix until the first week of March. Afterward, Little Miss BBQ will demo everything and undergo months of buildout in preparation for a summer debut. For more information, visit littlemissbbq.com.
