Plato opened Second Story in 2014, but now, after a decade and a pandemic, the bar has closed as of May 4. While the space that was once home to his first concept, Gelato Spot, will be transformed into a Velvet Taco, Plato intends to stay in Old Town Scottsdale, with plans to open a new concept two blocks away, in the former home of Kazimierz, which Plato closed last year, according to AZ Central. The Ends is planning to have its grand opening on June 1.

When it opens, customers can expect to go on a journey of global cuisine with a menu that is inspired by the late Anthony Bourdain. There will be a variety of handmade pasta in their pasta room, where patrons can see the making of the pasta. Other items expected to me on the menu include sushi, grilled meat options, a carnivore board, Tomahawk Tuesdays, gelato, and even some items from the Second Story menu, including Life Changing Biscuits. Second Story’s Executive Chef, Jordano Sessions, will oversee the kitchen. Eventually, the team hopes to add weekday happy hour and weekend brunch in the fall.

“We want to bring a concept rooted in the culture of experience and travel to the beginning of The Ends,” Plato said in a press release. “I feel grateful for the last ten years that the community allowed Second Story to create lifelong memories with family, friends, and companions. My commitment is to continue creating a space allowing for rich life experiences over great food and drink.”
