The company is finally making its way into the Valley after making a deal with restaurateur Tommy Plato, who accepted an irresistible offer to have the concept replace his now-closed Second Story Liquor Bar and Gelato Spot, the former having its last day of business on May 4, according to AZ Big Media. This will be the closest location to the West Coast, with the next closest Velvet Taco in Lubbock, TX. The company is also working on new sites in Miami and Dunwoody, GA.

“We’re bringing our globally inspired tacos to new cities and neighborhoods near you, making it easier for you to get your taco fix,” according to the company’s website. “Each of our restaurants is unique, but they all generate an energy that is unmistakable. Stay tuned to see where we are headed next.

When the company opens this new location, it will offer delicious tacos made with the freshest ingredients available. Velvet Tacos proudly slow roasts its chicken and corn, uses lots of booze in its margaritas, and makes everything from scratch. There is no timeline for the new location. Plato plans to stay in Old Town Scottsdale and open a new concept called The Ends about two blocks away on June 1.

“Velvet Taco is a temple to the liberated taco,” the website continues. “We’re a one-of-a-kind taco concept serving premium food in a unique & funky fast-casual setting. Founded on the idea that tacos don’t have to be associated with Tex-Mex cuisine and can be made with the same care and quality ingredients as fine dining, Velvet Taco is where “anything goes meets the art of the possible.”
