You might already be aware of Backyard Taco’s plans to take on east Mesa. An announcement last year revealed that a new master-planned development project titled “60 & Signal” envisioned 95,000 square-feet of brand new retail space. Among others, Backyard Taco signed on as one of the confirmed tenants at the time.

Well, just to update you all, this brand new Backyard Taco is still under construction. A permit found in Mesa public records reveals that the establishment’s signs are soon to go up, including three 50 square-foot wall signs and two drive-thru menu boards. The official address for this location will be 1562 S. Signal Butte Road.

Jesse Schwarz, chief operating officer for Backyard Taco, confirmed with What Now Phoenix via email that this location will be ready to open closer to Q4 of this year. That may seem like long time to wait but luckily, those hankering for Backyard Taco’s mesquite-infused Tacos al Carbon can still head over to Stapley or University for a taste.

This Signal Butte location will be the chain’s third Mesa outpost and the sixth location overall. You can currently find Backyard Taco at north or south Mesa, Gilbert, and Chandler. In addition to Signal Butte, a Queen Creek location is concurrently in the works, possibly scheduled to open later this year also.
