Needless to say, the news has been met with incredible enthusiasm from the community, as loyal fans flocked to the Facebook announcement and shared their excitement for the restaurant’s return. Some people call it the best Mexican food in the Valley, while another cites it as one of the main reasons they travel to Mesa.

Aside from its signature Chile Relleno, Matta’s also serves up a reliable slate of traditional frontera favorites including enchiladas, tostadas, and tacos, as well as various specialties such as Gallina Mole, Carne Machaca, and Huevos Rancheros.

What’s more, the brand also operates a hot sauce and salsa delivery service, with all of its ingredients for both the restaurant and wholesaler coming from local farms within 100 miles.

“The Matta Family has proudly served their delicious brand of Mexican food in Mesa, Arizona, since 1953,” the company writes on its website, adding, “We work with local family-owned farms and food co-ops to bring quality products directly to you, guaranteeing the freshest tastes of home.”

“Highly anticipated” I think not. Terrible yelp reviews = it had gone downhill significantly. Will the new location have better management and cooks?
