The restaurant serves up authentic Mexican fare influenced by family roots in Jalisco. Owners Martin and Patricia Rangel moved to the U.S. in the ‘80s, starting out as agricultural workers picking apples and cherries in Washington and peaches in California. In the ‘90s, they opened an auto body shop in order to better support their family.

This hard work and dedication eventually moved them to the restaurant industry in 2000, when they opened the first Fiesta Mexicana in Woodland Park, Colorado. The successful venture led to eight more locations throughout Colorado, Arizona, Utah, and New Mexico. Soon, that number will increase to 11 with two new locations in Arizona this year, plus a brand new flagship restaurant in Las Vegas in early 2023.

Chief Operating Officer Damien Rangel tells What Now Phoenix that they have scouted locations in Buckeye and Gilbert. Though nothing is set in stone yet, he aims to open the new restaurants by the end of this year.

Along with the expansions are plans to modernize their brand. While their core concept and traditional recipes will remain, they hope to keep things fresh with an updated menu. Fiesta Mexicana will also enhance their ambiance with new music and decor to improve the customer experience.

“We stay on the front of customer market trends and want to innovate while keeping what works. At the end of the day, we will still be the family Mexican restaurant everyone knows and loves,” Rangel says.
