Earlier this summer, we let you all know about an upcoming craft beer and wine bar in Gilbert called Taproom-120. The new retro-pop-culture themed taproom is certainly coming along in anticipation of what will hopefully be an October opening at 4576 S. Power Road.

Until then, we’ve uncovered more details regarding what to expect at this highly-anticipated watering hole in the East Valley. Taproom-120 is brought to us by local Arizona residents Maegann Yarbrough, Jason Yarbrough, and Matt Poltash, a group whose friendship is bound by their collective love for beer and geeky pop-culture.

“We were out for dinner in January of 2019 when Matt was making some career changes and we just jokingly said, ‘Why don’t we open a bar together?’ It was an idea that just stuck, and instead of chatting about how cool that would be, we actually just started doing it. We wrote a business plan and started talking to people. We wanted something that was unique and would build community,” Maegann tells What Now Phoenix.

“The T-120 VHS cassette is our compass. We will incorporate the elements of your favorite old video store, movie theater, cult classic movies, cheesy horror films, and video arcades of the retro past. All that, with quality local craft beer, wine, and crafted alcohol-free beverages. We have a separate arcade room with pinball machines and upright video games in partnership with Dangerzone Arcade.”

The team brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this project. Matt has eight years of experience in the beer industry as a bartender, manager, and brewery consultant. Jason has experience working as a quality auditor in retail and online sales. And in addition to her reputation in the Valley as @azrealestategeek, Maegann holds an MBA with sales and restaurant experience.

As they prepare for their opening this fall, the team has launched an exciting opportunity that allows their customers to become a part of the business. Through a loan crowdfunding campaign on Honeycomb Credit, Taproom-120 hopes to purchase additional furnishings and finalize the build out of the space.

“We partnered with Honeycomb because it was a better opportunity for our customers to feel like they are actively involved in building this space that we are ultimately creating for them. Unlike some more traditional crowdfunding platforms, they can truly invest in a local business in their community. We are so grateful for the support we have received already!” Maegann says.

In the first few weeks since the launch, Taproom-120 already reached almost 50-percent of their funding goal. The campaign will continue to run through September. If you’re interested in supporting this small, local Arizona business, visit: https://invest.honeycombcredit.com/campaigns/Taproom-120
