Throne Brewing, which started in 2018 by 23-year-old Carlos Toma, is gearing up to open their third location in downtown Phoenix at 1326 N Central Avenue, which also operates Pizza People Pub.
“We’re doing a takeover for this,” said Toma when What Now Phoenix spoke with him on Wednesday. “It will be a taproom and a restaurant and continue to serve the food from the pizza pub. That menu is staying exactly the same.”
The upcoming location will be the second of the three to offer food, and the third time Toma is teaming up and taking over. The original brewery in Glendale began as Dubina when he bought it in 2018. After he made everything his own and rebranded to Throne Brewing in 2019, he opened another spot in Peoria that used to belong to Freak’N Brewing.
That location, according to Toma, is more of the production facility. “That’s where we do most of the packing for the beers with just a little taproom. This new one in downtown will be a lot more like the Glendale location as a full restaurant.”
After holding a soft opening, Toma says they’re still at least six weeks out from an official grand opening.
“The outside sign is currently in approval with the landlord,” he said. “After that, the City of Phoenix needs to approve it, which will take about another four weeks. Once the sign is approved and made, we’ll have the opening within a week.”
