YC’s Mongolian Grill is Moving Into a Historic Downtown Phoenix Home

Owner Geoff Stanisic says the process will take more than a year so that he can properly balance the preservation of the home’s character with all the high-tech equipment necessary to run a restaurant.

Stanisic tells What Now Phoenix that the prolonged opening date is actually due to the careful balancing act between preserving the character of a home that was built in 1913 while simultaneously bringing it up to code and moving in the high-tech equipment needed to run a restaurant.

Nevertheless, as the restaurateur explained to Foothills Focus recently, this location marks a “new feel” for the brand. “It’s more of a neighborhood place,” said Stanisic, who also operates locations in Tempe, Gilbert, and Scottsdale. “Folks near there, they don’t drive. They walk their dogs, ride their bikes. Kids take their scooters.”

YC’s Mongolian Grill has been serving the greater Phoenix region for some three decades, with its create-your-own bowls made from high-quality ingredients including lo mein noodles that are imported from Los Angeles’ Chinatown, wild-caught fish, fresh meat, hand-chopped veggies, and soups that are made in-house multiple times a day.

“Our pride in our food comes through in every bite,” YC’s Mongolian Grill writes on its website, “so whichever combination of ingredients you choose, you’ll create an absolutely delicious bowl you’ll love every time. We don’t cut corners or ever serve you anything less than the best.”
