With three brick-and-mortars (although two are temporarily closed) it’s safe to say Zookz Sandwiches is known around town. The eatery that serves up the ‘best toasted sandwiches ‘round,’ has been stuffing and toasting sandwiches in Phoenix since 2014. In 2017, owner Carole Meyer, whose shop concept is inspired by her grandmother, opened her second Zookz location in downtown Phoenix.

Now, it appears another change is in the works. Our leasing intel suggests Zookz sandwiches will soon be available at the edge of Biltmore Plaza. Meyer declined to comment for this story, so we are unable to confirm if the lease suggests a relocation or an expansion. In either event, this Zookz location will be about four miles east from the uptown location on the same road: E Camelback. The eatery is slated to take over the 1,209 square-foot space next month.

If you’ve somehow missed out on the Zookz experience, you should definitely jump on board.

Zookz serves up breakfast and lunch sandwiches, as well as a couple of sweet sandwiches. But these aren’t just any sandwiches.

The shop’s toasted sandwiches are made with a round, pressed grill that creates circular sandwiches, with all the goods kept safe and warm inside. The menu ranges from the seasonal chorizo special, to vegan and vegetarian creations. You can also get your hands on some Zookz salads, as well as chocolate-nut and peanut butter-Nutella sandwiches.

It might sound like a fluke, but you’ll have to trust your fellow Phoenicians—that’s just Zookz.
