All the way back in 1996, two Phoenix eateries, the Silver Spoon Café and the Daily Grind Coffee & Bakery Emporium, merged. The result? Gary and Denise Bismore’s SpoonZ Café. In 2015, the co-owners opened a second location in Downtown Phoenix. Now the business is growing once again.

From the beginning, SpoonZ’s proprietors believed “local coffee and signature salads taste even better with local art around them.” SpoonZ Café highlights the work of local artists by offering a rotating gallery space for paintings, photographs, and prints on the café walls. All the work displayed is available for purchase, and the café takes no commission. Local artists can apply to reserve gallery space.

The good news is artists will have even more space available to them. And Phoenix foodies will have another burger joint to check out.

SpoonZ Café recently signed a lease for a roughly 1,800 square foot space in Phoenix’s Downtown Submarket. The café will take over the first-floor retail space on E. Washington Street this month. In an email to What Now Phoenix, Denise Bismore wrote of the space, “the interior will look more industrial with a white washed brick wall, wood-like flooring & grey tone painted & stainless walls.” SpoonZ’s newest location will continue to feature local art on its walls.

While Bismore says the new café’s menu is a work-in-progress, the plan is to offer angus burgers, fries, salads, as well as vegetarian and vegan options. The café’s renowned sweet potato fries & chipotle sauce will also be available.

The E Washington location, which Bismore says should be up and running by fall 2021, will have both indoor and outdoor seating as well as to-go and delivery options.
