Le Colonial, the upscale restaurant focusing on French-Vietnamese fusion, is planning to open a new site in Scottsdale.
The Chicago-based restaurant first opened in 1996 and has since expanded to Houston in 2016, Atlanta in 2019, and Lake Forrest last year. Now the Le Colonial team, which includes owners Rick Wahlstedt and Joe King, along with award-winning chefs Nicole Routhier and Hassan Obaye, is planning four new restaurants. Scottsdale will be the last of the bunch, expected to open in the third quarter of 2024, according to South Florida Business Journal.
Le Colonial has its eyes set on Florida next, with a new location planned for Delray Beach at 609 E Atlantic Ave. The company will continue the expansion with a new location coming to Naples in September 2023, followed by a site coming to Denver, at 255 Fillmore Street, set to open in January 2024. The exact location of the new Scottsdale location has yet to be revealed, but it will follow the unique design found at the company’s four other sites.
“We designed Le Colonial to be transporting, there’s no question about it,” King recently said in a news release. “As soon as they walk into the bright, palm-filled entryway, and then onto our swoon-worthy patios, we want guests to feel like they’ve stepped into an oasis from another era.”
To match this one-of-a-kind interior, chefs Routhier and Obaye have created a unique menu filled with high-end ingredients. Le Colonial offers featured dishes that vary by location. For example, Chicago’s current featured dish is Cha Gio and crispy shrimp & pork rolls. At the same time, the company’s most recent location in Lake Forrest offers Goi Bo and spicy beef carpaccio salad as its featured dish.
