According to a building permit acquired by What Now Phoenix, a new ice cream shop is being planned for the vacancy at 2533 N. 16th St. The owners listed on this permit are Realeza Michoacana, who happen to already be established just across the street from this project site.
It is unclear whether this will be a relocation or an entirely new project from the family-owned business. Representatives for Realeza Michoacana have been contacted but have yet to respond to our queries at the time of publication.
What we do know, however, is that the 3,566 square-foot space is about to undergo some heavy remodeling. The new space will include an ice cream shop, preparation area, ice cream room, and mercantile area, which sounds a lot like what is already at the location across the street.
Based on the timing of our source, we’re guessing that this project will not be complete until early next year. Until then, we will be keeping an eye on their Facebook page for any updates or announcements.
