This new hotel is the latest from Accor in collaboration with Dakota Development and DESCO, Arizona, LLC. The group received approval from Scottsdale City Council to build a new hotel in Old Town six years ago, with plans to open in June 2023. Now, Phoenix-based Biltform Architecture Group submitted an application to reapprove the site plan, landscape plan, and building elevations at the beginning of the month, according to Phoenix Business Journal.

At the moment, the property is scheduled to be sold at an April foreclosure auction, but Desco is days away from closing on a new loan that would allow the company to proceed with building the hotel with its project partners. Once that is secured, demolition of the building is scheduled for the third quarter of this year, with roughly 22 months of construction ahead. The company is targeting the fourth quarter of 2026 as a possible opening date.

“With its Scottsdale Road address, one of the most stunning destinations as its backdrop, SLS Scottsdale offers world-class design, unmatched lifestyle offerings, and bespoke services that will be the first of their kind in the city,” David Slattery, CEO, DESCO, Arizona LLC, said in a press release at the time of the announcement. “The property will pioneer a new era for hospitality in the region, and we couldn’t be any prouder to be collaborating with the SBE team to bring the SLS brand to Scottsdale.”
