The Horny Toad recently announced plans for a Glendale location, causing a lot of buzz from fans in the Valley who’d usually make the 45-minute drive up to Cave Creek for some of Arizona’s best BBQ and fried chicken. But now, The Horny Toad will be at 6729 N. 57th Drive, according to an interim ABC license recently issued by the state of Arizona.

The Horny Toad is a destination Western restaurant in Cave Creek that has been around since 1975. Despite the name–which, in fact, is actually a lizard species that resembles a toad–the establishment has been known for generations as a family-friendly restaurant serving comfort food in a fun saloon setting.

Following its founder “Crazy” Ed Chilleen, The Horny Toad was owned by the Price family until 2017, when they sold the business to Ab Lattouf and Nichole Morris. Lattouf happens to own Desert Rose Pizzeria Gastropub & Steaks, also on 57th in Glendale, which perhaps explains why The Horny Toad is coming to this address.

Neither Lattouf nor Morris could be reached for comment at the time of publication. But we can bet that soon, we’ll only need to travel to Glendale to get a taste of that fantastic fried chicken dinner that many grew up eating at The Horny Toad. For more information, visit www.thehornytoad.com.
