“It’ll be a little dark, a little loud, and very cocktail forward,” owner Julian Wright told What Now Phoenix when describing the concept of his newest creation: Sake Haus.

Along with Kahvi Coffee, a coffee shop and bar, and Pedal Haus, a brewery with patio space, Wright will bring Sake Haus to monOrchid, the converted warehouse in the historical Roosevelt Row Arts District in Phoenix.
Sake Haus is very much inspired by Tokyo street bars and restaurants. Wright says it will have a small-to-medium sized menu, primarily of sushi. Along with these bites, the bar will offer a full sake list, a selection of Japanese craft beer, and of course, all those cocktails we already mentioned. Sake Haus’ website elaborates, “ we’ll have a large selection of Japanese and local sakes [and] Japanese whiskey…The music will be bumpin’ and the lights dark.”
If you haven’t made it over to monOrchid yet, this summer’s line up is sure to lure you in. The mixed-use building is creative-forward; alongside Wright’s eateries are gallery and community spaces. Wright was drawn to the building, first constructed by Del Webb in 1937, primarily because of the great neighborhood it’s situated in.
A recent Instagram post suggests Sake Haus will be open and pouring drinks by August 2021. Wright says the spot will open in the evenings, starting at 4PM. I’ll drink to that!
