The local family-owned pizzeria Barro’s Pizza appears to be working on its third location this year – not to mention second this year in Chandler – according to a tenant improvement application filed with the city for the former home of Saigon Bistro and The Reef in Chandler Mercado, at 2041 N Arizona Ave.

The filing comes fresh on the heels of a January opening – or rather, relocation effort – in Chandler, as well as one in Casa Grande last April.

In a statement regarding the Chandler relocation, co-owner Ken Barro said, “We’ve been in our original Chandler location for over 20 years. We are looking forward to serving the same great food to our loyal customers in our new, bigger location close to the Ocotillo community.”

Similarly, on the Casa Grande opening, co-owner Bruce Barro said, “Casa Grande is a thriving community. We opened our first restaurant there in 2012 and our customers have been so loyal and supportive, so it was certainly time to open a second location.”

A representative of Barro’s Pizza did not immediately return a request for comment on the newest outpost.

With an arsenal of secret recipes developed by the Barro family’s matriarch, Grandma Angelo, who honed her craft making pizza and pasta in Sarconi, Italy, Barro’s Pizza has become synonymous with “fluffy crust, savory and sweet pizza sauce, chicken wings, pasta, salads and subs.”

Aside from its menu of traditional pies such as the Vegetarian and Mega Meat, the brand also serves up a number of signature favorites such as the Hot Wing, made with chicken, hot wing sauce, mozzarella, and cheddar cheese, as well as the Spicy Southwestern Chicken featuring chicken, spicy barbecue sauce, mozzarella, and cheddar cheese.
