MOD Pizza, the Seattle-based pioneer of the “superfast pizza experience,” recently filed a liquor license application for a second Queen Creek location, which is set to open at 200 W Combs Rd. What’s more, the company lists a third Mesa outpost as “coming soon” to Gallery Park on its website, effectively expanding the company’s footprint to some 20 locations throughout the greater Phoenix region.

It’s unclear when the two new locations might open, however, as a company representative did not immediately return What Now Phoenix’s request for comment.

While MOD Pizza does offer a menu of signature pies such as the Caspian made with mozzarella, gorgonzola, bbq chicken, barbecue sauce, and red onions, as well as the Tristan topped with mozzarella, asiago, roasted red peppers, mushrooms, and pesto, the brand is perhaps more well-known for its build-your-own model, in which customers can choose from more than 40 toppings at one all-inclusive price.

MOD Pizza was founded in 2008 by Scott and Ally Svenson who, by their own admission, “knew the last thing the world needed was another pizza place.” Nevertheless, the couple also recognized that there was an opportunity to take an already great thing – pizza – and make it even better by “bringing speed, individual style, and value to one of America’s favorite foods.”

More importantly, however, the Svenson’s were also on a mission to not only serve pizza but also the communities in which they operate with regular donations and fundraises that benefit local schools and nonprofits focusing on children, families, and more specifically, food insecurity.
